Web Image Processing:

Summary

The functions of this web image processing module are:

  • upload of image collections
  • image tile calibration (flat field correction)
  • image tile stitching
  • image segmentation to obtain a binary mask
  • pixel depth conversion to 8 bits per pixel
  • image pyramid building for deep zoom viewing
  • configuration of multiple image pyramids into a multiple layer deep zoom visualization
  • image tesselation to create rectangular or hexagonal image partitions
  • image assembly

The deep zoom viewer has additional interactive built-in functions in addition to the pan-zoom functionality. The additional functions are described at the NIST external URL and include:

  • downloading raw or displayed image sub-sets
  • displaying original and displayed image intensities
  • transparent overlays of multiple layers
  • interactive image filtering and connectivity analysis in a browser
  • spatial scale measurements
